Bedford Specialty Care is an inspiration for the concept of “home is where the heart is”. Located in a residential neighborhood of a quaint southwestern Iowa town, our nonprofit skilled nursing facility provides thoughtful, loving healthcare for the area’s older residents. Bedford Specialty Care was listed as Best Nursing Home by US News & World Report for 2018-19.
With private and semi-private bedrooms, we are able to provide a broad continuum of care. Some patients may require only a few weeks of our professional care while they recover from illness or injury. Our professional therapists are on-site daily to help in reaching goals of building strength, balance, flexibility and confidence.
Many residents in the Bedford area have also benefited from receiving outpatient physical therapy or occupational therapy at our healthcare center. Whether recovering from surgery or illness, we can help you at Bedford Specialty Care.
For those requiring a longer stay, our nurses, nurses’ aides and other professional staff are dedicated to making Bedford Specialty Care a comfortable, happy home with plenty of opportunities to socialize. Musicians perform frequently; seasonal celebrations with family and friends feature great food and fun, and the community really gets involved with our annual Pie and Ice Cream Social in the summer and Soup Supper near holiday time. For more relaxing endeavors, we have walking paths that lead up to an outdoor gazebo, relaxing on our back patio, helping tend to plants and flowers or enjoying the birds in the aviary.

Bedford Specialty Care is a 49-bed skilled nursing facility offering rehabilitation services, skilled nursing care, long term care and hospice care. We are a part of Care Initiatives, Iowa’s largest not-for-profit skilled nursing and long term care provider. Bedford Specialty Care accepts Medicare and Medicaid.
