Family Stories

I am writing this letter to express my gratitude and to recognize Mechanicsville Specialty Care in Mechanicsville, IA, one of your Care Initiative care centers. My mother has been a resident there for over 9-1/2 years. She has Alzheimer's and is currently on hospice care. 
The staff is not only professional and skilled, they are caring, patient and compassionate. They give their smiles freely and can calm and reassure my mother in her confusion and anxiety. When I have visited her through the window (since COVID) I have seen my mother look up at a staff member with the look of a child seeking guidance and direction and I am convinced they are her family. The staff has changed in those 9-1/2 years but I have come to know many of them very well and they are part of my family too. 
Everyone ... are to be highly commended for their dedication in the past and heroic efforts during the COVID 19 Pandemic! I also recognize and praise the entire Care Initiative Hospice team. How reassuring it is that I can trust they are caring for and protecting my mother in such a loving way. Isn't that what anyone would want for their loved one? 

Thank you to all of the staff who supported my grandmother for the 10 months she was cared for…were greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Thank you (Greenfield) so much for the beautiful candle. Everything happened so fast. Had you spent time with Mom you would have enjoyed her sparkling personality. We applaud you for all that you do. We are so fortunate to have such compassion at our fingertips. Thanks again!

I love how all you Hospice caregivers are so involved with your patients and families. Caring for our loved ones, keeping us updated and explaining what is going on. I feel so much better for Dad that you are there for him. Supporting him, answering his questions, giving him someone to talk to that is knowledgeable about what is going on with Mom. 

I am writing to say thank you very much for having a big heart for the needy and more so considering Uganda to be one of the beneficiaries. I acknowledge receipt of the items you sent through Roberta S. and I have delivered them to Hospice Africa Uganda (HAU).

We want to thank each and every one of you for the love and care you had given to our mom. She always looked forward to your visits and made her feel better after you left. Care Initiatives Hospice and their staff were incredibly comforting to our family, and took remarkable care of my mother during the final months of her battle with ALS. We are so thankful for their support and advocacy for her comfort. They took the time to help her with quality of life projects that were important to her, and an incredible surprise and treasure for her family. They went above and beyond to ensure that we created lasting memories that we would all cherish. It takes special people to be able to interact with families anticipating the loss of a loved one, all while focusing on the transition of the loved one to their new home. I recently recommended them to my mother-in-law for a family member. They also had an incredible experience.
