    Located in Waterloo, IA, NorthCrest Specialty Care is licensed to provide quality care to up to 94 residents, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We serve residents from Black Hawk County, Iowa, and many surrounding communities.

    We are committed to providing our residents with an active and engaging quality of life through daily programming, social and educational activities, and services that promote physical health, provide mental stimulation, increase engagement and help our residents thrive in a home-like setting.

    Care Initiatives is Iowa’s largest nonprofit provider of high-quality skilled nursing care, hospice care, assisted living, independent living, memory care and more. With 60 locations across the Midwest, Care Initiatives and the team at NorthCrest Specialty Care are ready to assist.

    These reviews absolutely shock me. This is an extremely clean facility with people who love the residents. It's wide and open. The rooms are good sized. They keep the residents clean. The place is fresh and clean.

    I'm guess people haven't encountered other nursing homes that are God awful. They smell. The residents sit sloped over in the same place for way too long.

    The residents freely roam. When it's nice out, they notify someone and go outside on their own, if able.

    There are a few residents that enjoy seeing people come. They will greet you and say goodbye when you leave.

    The social worker Katie, is like someone I have never met in my life. If someone told me she was an angel sent from heaven, I would have to agree. I can't even explain what she's done for my father. Her door is always open. She's not there just for the residents but the family as well.

    I know there is someone who started a nasty campaign because their family member fell in the shower. I have to believe a lot of these bad reviews stemmed from her Facebook page. It's sad.

    * They've ice packs!
    * They've new Tech equipment.
    * All of their Nurses & Aides did their jobs.
    * At no time, did I feel they were under staffed.

    Thank you for being patient & understanding my particular needs.
    No speech or language barrier!

    I spent 16 days at Northcrest after spending 16 days at Allen hospital. I cannot say enough good things about the care I received while I was there. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The physical and occupational therapists were very knowledgeableand kind. My only complaint was the bed and chair in my room. 2 weeks home and my tailbone is still sore. The facility was clean and had no funky odors.

    My Mother, Aunt and several Great Friends stayed at Northcrest, they were, and are treated well good foods and Great Customer Service!!

    Created in 1989, Care Initiatives is the largest nonprofit operator of quality skilled nursing locations in Iowa. Today, Care Initiatives operates a total of 43 skilled nursing care locations, two assisted living locations, seven independent living locations, and eight hospice office locations.
