Belle Plaine Specialty Care Recognized as Deficiency Free

Belle Plaine Specialty Care has been recognized by the state of Iowa’s Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA) for achieving deficiency free status during its 2018 annual inspection and survey. This is the second consecutive year Belle Plaine Specialty Care has been designated “deficiency free”.

The unannounced annual visit by the DIA entails reviews of quality, health, life safety and performance issues to determine complete compliance with both state and federal guidelines. Clinical documentation, administrative and clinical procedures, dietary services, environmental standards, and medication management are also reviewed. In addition, inspectors conduct interviews with residents and family members about life and the care they are receiving.

Administrator Amy Castro says she’s extremely proud of this recognition. Castro states, “It’s not easy to achieve a deficiency free survey. I give credit to our caring nurses, aides, therapists and staff. Their attention to detail and compassionate care make this happen.”
