Care Initiatives Makes Donation to Doctors Without Borders to aid Ukraine

On March 4, 2022, Care Initiatives made a $20,000 donation to Doctors Without Borders. This donation was made in hopes of furthering the efforts of providing much-needed healthcare to communities affected by war.

In making this donation, Care Initiatives Chief Executive Officer Mike Beal stated that the donation comes from Care Initiatives’ desire to support individuals fleeing Ukraine and their need for healthcare during this time. “When our organization makes a charitable contribution, we spend time researching the cause and how our support will impact our residents, their families, our employees, future employees and the communities we serve,” said Beal. “This is a situation which supersedes our desire to connect ourselves to the cause. As an organization we agree, this donation is simply for our concern for the welfare of the citizens Ukraine and their need to access healthcare during such a devastating time. Our thoughts are with Ukraine and those providing emergency healthcare.”

This donation is one of several Care Initiatives has made this year to extend the organization’s DEI mission beyond the four walls of the company. The company’s DEI Council includes a working group focused on community outreach. The community outreach working group assisted in the planning of the Doctors Without Borders donation. For one member of the working group, this donation held personal meaning. “At the age of four, my grandmother and her family left Ukraine shortly after the Bolshevik revolution and ongoing Russian oppression,” said Todd Daily, Community Representative with Care Initiatives Hospice. “This donation makes me proud to work for Care Initiatives. There are so many people who are being forced out of their homes in this historically war-torn area who need our support.”
