(November, 2018) – Crestview Specialty Care in West Branch has been designated a “Best Nursing Home” in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Nursing Homes list for 2018-19. U.S. News evaluated 439 nursing homes in Iowa and thousands across the country. This designation places Crestview Specialty Care in the top 18% of Iowa nursing homes and in the top 12% of all nursing homes evaluated nationwide.

The home was given top rating in the Overall category which reviews data from the federal Nursing Home Compare program, and incorporates the nurse staffing, health inspection and quality measures star ratings. In addition to these measures, nursing homes were assessed on whether they had a patient-centered or billing-centered pattern in the number of minutes of therapy certain high-needs patients received. The consistency of their reported nurse staffing figures across assessment-based and payroll-based reporting systems was also a factor in the ratings.

"Several million Americans will spend at least some time in a nursing home this year, whether undergoing rehab after a hospital stay or as long-term residents," Brian Kelly, editor and chief content officer of U.S. News, said in a press release. "Finding a nursing home that meets an individual's specific needs can be overwhelming. The Best Nursing Home ratings are designed to help potential residents and their families navigate this important decision."

“We appreciate our team for their commitment to quality care and the hard work we do to achieve this level of recognition,” said Administrator Cheryl Mercer.
Overall, 1,844 nursing homes received the U.S. News & World Report’s highest rating. More than 15,000 nursing homes nationwide were evaluated to arrive at the list.
