Wapello Specialty Care welcomes new administrator

(December, 2020) Alexa Saco has joined the staff at Wapello Specialty Care as Administrator. She is a recent graduate of the University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in health and human physiology and a master’s degree in healthcare administration.

A native of the great Chicagoland area, Saco returned to Chicago for a few years and worked in software sales. During this time, she became an advocate for her grandfather who was living in a nursing home.

“I really loved Iowa City so I decided to come back and after my experience with my grandfather, I knew I wanted to work in long term care,” Saco said.

“In my new position at Wapello, I really want to focus on patient-centered care and become an advocate for the residents as well as the staff,” Saco said. “I want them to feel at home.”

Outside of school and work, Saco is an avid runner and enjoys exploring restaurants and cooking, particularly dishes from Spain. She highly recommends books by famed author Dr. Atul Gawande.
