Care Initiatives Hospice in Albia recently had the privilege of celebrating a remarkable milestone as hospice patient Dorothy turned 100 years old on July 11, 2026.

Surrounded by those who care for her, Dorothy’s centennial birthday served as a joyful reminder that every moment is worth celebrating. Since joining Care Initiatives Hospice last year, Dorothy has touched the hearts of team members through her warmth, resilience, and appreciation for life’s simple joys.

Known for her love of all shades of pink, Dorothy marked her special day with a celebration filled with smiles, well-wishes, and gratitude for a century of memories.

“At Care Initiatives Hospice, we believe every moment matters,” said Lisa Knights, Program Director of Albia Hospice. “Celebrating Dorothy’s 100th birthday was a true honor for our team. Milestones like these remind us of the importance of cherishing each day and recognizing the incredible life stories of the individuals we serve.”

Hospice care focuses on enhancing quality of life, providing comfort, dignity, and support for patients and their families. Special moments such as birthdays, anniversaries, and personal achievements are meaningful opportunities for hospice teams to honor patients and create lasting memories.
