Awarded by the Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) Foundation, four Care Initiatives team members have been awarded scholarships to further their health care education. The scholarships provide for the cost of a variety of health care and leadership programs to equip health care workers across the state with the skills needed to work in long-term care.

The Care Initiatives team members were among 74 Iowans to receive more than $100,000 in scholarships. Those receiving the Care Initiatives Director of Nursing Leadership Scholarship are:

  • Kelli Gustafson, Dunlap Specialty Care
  • Tawnya Larsen, Panora Specialty Care
  • Reese Miller, Lyon Specialty Care.

The Care Initiatives Director of Nursing Leadership Scholarship is for directors of nursing, assistant directors of nursing or registered nurses interesting in pursuing the American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing DNS-CT certification. Seven Scholarships were awarded.

Receiving the Iowa Total Care Executive Health Care Leadership Institute Scholarship is:

  • Megan Rinner, Corning Specialty Care.

The Iowa Total Care Executive Health Care Leadership Institute Scholarship is a $1,500 scholarship for leaders at IHCA member organizations interested in attending the 2025/2026 IHCA Executive Health Care Leadership Institute. Nine total scholarships were awarded.
