About

The heart of any contemporary community is the generation that came before it. The respect and dedication of the team of healthcare professionals at State Center Specialty Care caring for that generation is of utmost importance.

Located on the edge of the town known as Iowa’s Rose Capital, staff and residents take full advantage of the serene surroundings and any community social activities.

Our nurses, assistants, therapists and other staff are committed to involving residents in all aspects of their individual care. From one-on-one care planning sessions to residency council meetings, residents are encouraged to live as independently as they are able but assured that the best nursing care is just a few feet away.

Additionally, the staff is very active in getting residents involved with the greater community, enjoying and giving back to the towns around the area.

Every spring, summer and fall there are weekly cookouts in the backyard garden. Sometimes there is a much larger crowd when the staff pulls together to bring out the barbecue tongs to host a good old fashioned wiener roast for residents, families and friends. The annual float in the SummerFest parade is always a highlight. Easter egg hunts and Halloween hand-outs are bookends for the warmer months activities. We host a community Thanksgiving dinner bringing in about 120 diners to share a meal and their time with our residents.

Entertainers are no strangers to the nursing facility. With the high school just across the street, residents are treated to practice runs for show choir or jazz bands. Singalongs are scheduled for every Monday. Church services, arts and crafts and exercise time engage our seniors for a happy, healthy daily routine.

Dining is always a pleasure. Our residents enjoy breakfast on their own time between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Lunch and dinner menus are passed out the day before allowing diners to select what suits their tastes.

For our short-term patients and outpatient clients, physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists are providing healing treatments on a daily basis in our state-of-the-art therapy room.

Please give us a call or stop by for a tour.
