La Porte City Specialty Care earns national quality recognition

January, 2020 – La Porte City Specialty Care has earned the American Healthcare Association’s (AHCA) 2020 Quality Initiative Tier 4 Recognition. Only 66 skilled nursing facilities out Iowa’s 439 achieved this level. Skilled nursing facilities that have achieved four out of four of the established quality initiatives dedicated their efforts over the past year to achieve the following improvements:

(October, 2019) Staff at La Porte City Specialty Care are celebrating a perfect survey administered by the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals. They received zero deficiencies.  There are 439 nursing facilities in Iowa. Generally, only 5 percent are found to be deficiency-free.

La Porte City Specialty Care Director of Nursing Earns Always Improve Award

Ambre Benson, Director of Nursing at La Porte City Specialty Care, received the Care Initiatives Always Improve Award at Care Initiatives’ annual awards brunch Friday, Dec. 7 in West Des Moines.

The award is given to a Care Initiatives employee who embodies the company’s core value to always seek out ways to improve quality in every way.

Tallman wins national leadership award

La Porte City Specialty Care Administrator Pamela Tallman has won the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) 2018 Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award. This is the second time she has received the designation. The leadership award was celebrated at ACHCA’s 52nd Annual Convocation and Exposition in
Orlando, Florida on Tuesday, April 24.

Fewer than 11% of facilities nationwide qualify. This year, 1,717 facilities met the selection criteria. Three hundred and fifty‐one administrators in 45 states were awarded the facility leadership award nationally.
