SIBLEY—Since Jessica McDyer’s first job at the age of 16 she knew what she wanted to do with her life.

“I worked in housekeeping at a long-term care facility, and I soon realized that was what I wanted to do with that my life,” McDyer said. “This was the environment that I wanted to work in.”

Sibley Specialty Care earns national quality recognition

January, 2020 – Sibley Specialty Care has earned the American Healthcare Association’s (AHCA) 2020 Quality Initiative Tier 4 Recognition. Only 66 skilled nursing facilities out Iowa’s 439 achieved this level. Skilled nursing facilities that have achieved four out of four of the established quality initiatives dedicated their efforts over the past year to achieve the following improvements:

Missy Julius Earns Care Initiatives Be Kind & Honest Award

Missy Julius, Environmental Supervisor with Sibley Specialty Care received the 2019 Be Kind and Honest Award at Care Initiatives annual awards brunch Friday, Dec. 6 in West Des Moines.

Julius joined Sibley Specialty Care in 2009 and oversees maintenance, housekeeping and laundry. She is an active member of the team and is available 24 hours a day.

“Missy helps the residents and families with any requests. They know she’ll get it done,” said Administrator Jessica McDyer. “Vendors comment about how helpful and pleasant she is.”

Sibley Specialty Care Passes State Survey with Zero Deficiencies

Sibley Specialty Care is pleased to announce it has received a “Deficiency Free” result on its annual survey in July 2018 by the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals. There are 412 nursing facilities in Iowa. Generally, only 5 percent are found to be deficiency-free. Sibley Specialty Care also recently received the AHCA Silver – Achievement in Quality Award and was named a “Best Nursing Home” by US News & World Report.

Sibley Specialty Care makes national honor roll

July, 2018 – Sibley Specialty Care has been named to the National Nursing Home Quality Care Collaborative Honor Roll to recognize its performance on the Nursing Home Compare long-stay quality measures. Nursing homes on the Nursing Home Quality Collaborative Honor Roll have achieved a quality measure composite score which is aligned with the top 10 percent of nursing homes in the U.S.

Sibley Specialty Care Named Best Nursing Home

Sibley Specialty Care was named a “Best Nursing Home” by the U.S. News & World Report 2017-18 Nursing Home Finder report October 31st. Nursing homes are eligible to receive this distinction if they score between a 4.5 and 5.0 on a 5.0 scale. According to the report, Sibley Specialty Care received a perfect 5.0 rating and is recognized as a “Top Rated Nursing Home.”  The report uses existing federal nursing home rating information and federally reported health care data to come up with their own rating system.

The award is given to a Care Initiatives employee who embodies the company’s core value to always seek out ways to improve quality in every way.

Sibley Specialty Care received the Care Initiatives “Safety Award” at Care Initiatives’ annual award brunch Friday, Dec. 16 in West Des Moines. The award is given to a Care Initiatives location that has had no employee injuries and filed completed safety meeting minutes for the year. Sibley Specialty Care is one of 50 locations owned and operated by West Des Moines-based Care Initiatives providing skilled nursing, rehabilitation, Alzheimer’s/dementia, assisted living and hospice care throughout Iowa.
