Care Initiatives Hospice - Sioux City Volunteer Recognized at State Event

September, 2019 - Pam Shever, from Correctionville, Iowa, is one of 53 volunteers who were honored at the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Iowa Annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony on Friday, September 20, 2019 held in Des Moines. 

“Pam is a wonderful, caring volunteer for our hospice patients and their families,” said Sue Flemming, Care Initiatives Hospice Social Worker.

     Kristin Behrendsen, RN, has joined Care Initiatives Hospice as the new Sioux City Team Director. In her role as Team Director, Behrendsen will oversee a team of a registered nurses, hospice aides, spiritual care and bereavement counselors, social workers and devoted local volunteers.

For most of his life, Francis Mumm, 84, has spent time on a farm. He grew up on one and then had his own for more than 50 years. Like most farm families, he and his wife, Marilyn, kept stock cattle and raised hogs. But it was the horses and ponies that had a special place in Francis’ heart.

Care Initiatives Hospice - Sioux City Social Worker Lacey Uhl helped make a dream come true for one Green Bay Packer's fan. Upon visiting one of her patients, it became very clear to Lacey that he is a die-hard Packers fan. Wanting to create a great experience for the patient, Lacey contacted the packers NFL agency and asked if they would consider sending a gift box for the patient.

Care Initiatives Hospice – Sioux City Earns Safety Award

The Care Initiatives Hospice – Sioux City office received Care Initiatives’ “Safety Award” at the Care Initiatives annual award brunch Friday, Dec. 16 in West Des Moines. The award is given to a Care Initiatives location that has had no employee injuries and filed completed safety meeting minutes for the year.
