That is exactly what the residents of Wapello Specialty Care get, along with the added bonus of having a family of premiere healthcare professionals and staff, who are compassionate and caring.
Wapello Specialty Care is located on the edge of town in southeastern Iowa near Burlington and Muscatine. Our spacious private and semi-private rooms are a relaxing respite where our residents are encouraged to bring mementos from home.
Bingo, book clubs, daily devotions and arts and crafts are offered throughout the week. Frequently children from a nearby day care visit to share joint programming including guest speakers or entertainers. During the warmer months, we make the most of our front porch with regular cook-outs and occasional fish fry. The entire community is invited to join us for our spring and fall open houses. Residents can also set their own schedule and rely on SE Bus to transport them to appointments or shopping trips.
A recent remodeling project upgraded our therapy services area. Our skilled physical therapist and occupational therapist work with patients one-on-one to build strength, flexibility, mobility and balance. Our Accelerated Care Plus program is the most advance programming of its kind to help set goals, help improve outcomes, manage pain and speed healing. Therapists are also available to meet with other area residents in need of services.

Wapello Specialty Care is a 49-bed skilled nursing facility offering rehabilitation services, skilled nursing care, long term care and hospice care. We are a part of Care Initiatives, Iowa’s largest not-for-profit skilled nursing and long term care provider. Wapello Specialty Care accepts Medicare and Medicaid.
